Last Thursday the Panther field hockey team travelled down Route 22 to Taconic Hills High. The Panthers defeated the Titans 6 – 0. Caytlyn Springer tallied two goals, Liz Ryan, Ally Burdick, Maddy Ryan and Alexis Carreas each had one goal in the victory. Maddy and Liz Ryan each added one assist.

Cassie Sherman had two saves in goal; the Taconic Hills goalie made 21.

Saturday the Panthers made the trip to Schuylerville to play the Granville Golden Horde on the turf field. Once again, the Panthers held their opponent scoreless. Ally Burdick scored with seven minutes left in the first half on an assist from Maddy Ryan to give the Panthers a 1 – 0 lead. In the second half Liz Ryan got the ball past the Horde’s goalie to grab a 2 – 0 lead. Then with 11 minutes left in the game, Caytlyn Springer, with an assist from Ally Burdick, was able to get a shot on goal to bring the score to 3 – 0. That score would hold for the remainder of the game.

Cassie Sherman had two saves in goal. Horde goaltender Hannah Bassett had a busy day with 13 saves.

On Wednesday the Panthers hosted the Salem Generals on the HFCS field. Ally Burdick got the Panthers on the board in the opening minutes. At the 13 minute mark, Burdick scored again, and the Panthers grabbed a 2 – 0 lead. Liz Ryan drove the ball into the Generals’ goal with less than two minutes remaining in the half. The second half was more of the same. Maddy Ryan scored a goal five minutes into the half. Four minutes later Ally Burdick got in on the action to put the Panthers up 5 – 0. Maddy Ryan topped off the scoring with her second goal of the game.

Lillian Hickey had two assists, Maddy Ryan, Erika Quackenbush and Liz Ryan each had one assist. The final score was 6 – 0. Cassie Sherman didn’t have any action in her goal and had 0 saves. On the other hand, General goalie Jessica Vidal had shots coming at her from everywhere; she’ll be seeing white balls flying around her feet for days. She ended with 31 saves.

The Panthers have outscored their opponents by 40 – 1. They now have a 7 – 0 league, 9 – 0 overall record.

This week the Ladies make the trip to Troy to play Emma Willard on Thursday, September 25 at 4:15 pm. Next Wednesday, October. 1, will find the Panthers at home playing Warrensburg at 4:30 pm.
