Harold Jewett

October 10, 2014 By eastwickpress

Berlin – Harold “Ken” Jewett, 76, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY, on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Born in Cohoes, NY, and raised in Berlin, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy Jewett and big brother to Ronald and the late Joan Jones and Beverly Hoffman.

ob-JewettKen attended SUNY Cobleskill and the University of Albany before entering the Army in 1961. After serving his term in the U.S. Army Security Agency, Ken worked at Bendix and then at Borden’s as a bookkeeper and as a carpenter for his uncle Bill in Syracuse before starting his own construction and logging business, which he continued to operate for over 30 years. Working in the woods became a labor of love and refuge for Ken; it also became his greatest sense of pride.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Kristina, his son-in-law, Chris, his grandson, Gavin, his sons, Adam, Trevor (Rachel, Haley and Layne) and Kelvin, and his granddaughter, Kayleen. Ken is also survived by his many nieces and nephews who always held a special place in his heart.

Ken is pre-deceased by his friend and brother at heart, Tommy Hackett. The family would like to thank their dear friend Dave Miller for helping Ken navigate his final years.

Services to celebrate Ken’s life will be held at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, in Stephentown, NY, on Saturday, October 11, at 11 am. Interment of ashes will follow in the Berlin Community Cemetery.
