Hoosick Falls Burglary Solved

According to Hoosick Falls Police Chief Robert Ashe, the Department responded to a reported Burglary at a residence on Mechanic Street in  Hoosick Falls on Sunday, October 5. The investigation revealed that over a period of weeks approximately $30,000 to $40,000 in cash had been taken.  Officers conducted several interviews within and outside the Village and into Vermont.

[private]On Tuesday, October 7, Officers arrested 27 year old Keith Gates of Hoosick Falls. Gates lived in the apartment building where the burglary occurred; he had been entering the other apartment and stealing the money. Gates was making large purchases during that time buying vehicles and an ATV. The Chief said Officers have seized two vehicles, the ATV, electronic equipment and cash.

Gates was charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd and one count of Grand Larceny 3rd. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail with no bail.

The Department continued its investigation of the case and as a result arrested Jessica Wilwol, age 29, of 45 Mechanic Street, Hoosick Falls. Wilwol, who is the girlfriend of Keith Gates, knew where some of the money that had been taken was. Acting on a tip, Officers were able to locate $4,000 in cash that was confirmed proceeds from the burglary.

Wilwol was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd, arraigned and released to reappear at a later date.

At the present time the Police Department has been able to recover approximately $5,000 in cash and approximately $15,000 in property.[/private]
