As part of the New York State FCCLA State Project, the girls and other members of their chapter are making stuffed elephants and participating in other activities of the not for profit organization (maddiesmark.org).  The group, founded by grieving parents, provides “best days ever” to terminally ill children in the Capital District and around the State.

FCCLA members have been busy this fall as they held a flea market in the high school parking lot in September, hosted the annual Key Leaders Breakfast for the TRACS program and honored the area fire and rescue volunteers with a breakfast.

Members have started to think of Christmas and how they can best meet the needs of families in our area.  Their Christmas project this year is entitled “Comfy Christmas.”  They hope to provide warm comforters and new sheets to needy children and give families hot cocoa mix and smoke detectors for their homes.

Also in the works is the Annual Walk A Thon.  This year the group will “Walk for Joseph” to help fund research on A.L.D.  Joseph Frost, nephew of cafeteria worker/dear friend to students at BCS, Adrienne Doin, went to heaven in March of 2014 after living with A.L.D. The proceeds from the November 19 walk will benefit A.L.D. research.  Community members are welcome to get sponsors and walk as well.  Anyone with over $25 in sponsors will receive a homemade (awesome) cinnamon bun!
