Berlin High School Announces Award Winners

Daughters of the American Revolution National Society 

[private]The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a lineage society that is a non-profit organization dedicated to patriotism, bs-rokjerhistoric preservation and education. Matthew Rokjer, son of Monica and Scott Rokjer of Grafton, has been selected by the Berlin High School faculty and senior class as the DAR Good Citizen. Matt was chosen as a student who demonstrates the qualities of a good DAR citizen which are Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism.

Congratulations, Matt.

Voice of Democracy Essay Contest – Veterans of Foreign War 

Since 1947 the Voice of Democracy has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ premier scholarship program. Each year, more than 50,000 high school students compete for more than $2.3 million in scholarships and incentives. Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme. This bs-rascoeyear’s theme was Why Veterans are Important to our Nation’s History and Future. Madison Rascoe, daughter of Christy and Joseph Rascoe of Stephentown, was selected as the winner of the Berlin High School Voice of Democracy Essay Contest and will advance to compete on a national level.

Congratulations, Madison.
