A total of 1,933 people turned out to vote in Hoosick on Tuesday, November 4. The only local candidates running for office were Democrat and Hoosick First candidate Jenn Hyde and Republican Joyce Brewer. They were running for the Town Council seat left vacant by Mark Surdam when he became Town Supervisor last year. The term is for one year.

With a 67 vote lead Jenn Hyde said she is excited and “feeling positive at this point,” and she looks forward to the final count being in her favor.
Joyce Brewer was not available for comment Wednesday evening. Hoosick Republican Chairwoman Cindy Mattison declined to comment other than to say she wishes the new Board success and wants to see the Town go forward from here.
