Weeb’s Fish Fry on Main Street in Hoosick Falls is closed for the season. However, on Thursday evening, November 20, the place was crowded with boxes and boxes of food and, at times, as many as 70 volunteers.

The volunteers turned out to help the Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) fill boxes and bags with a variety of canned and dry goods to feed families in need for Thanksgiving.
A handmade Thanksgiving greeting card was placed in each box and a gift certificate for a turkey was given to each family.
In an hour and a half the group filled 221 boxes and bags. Regular HACA volunteers said they have never completed the project so quickly. The HACA Center on lower John Street is fine for most purposes, but it is difficult to get around all the boxes and bags when packing for Thanksgiving. Weebs’ location made organizing assembly lines easy. Though sometimes space was tight, volunteers soon found efficient ways to get the boxes filled quickly.
It was a rewarding experience all around. Thanks to the generosity of commercial donors and the community 180 families in the Hoosick area will enjoy a filling Thanksgiving dinner, plus.
