On Saturday, November 15, at 5 pm, All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoosick will celebrate its 150th Anniversary with a Choral Evensong performed by the acclaimed Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys.
The All Saints Church building was built in 1864 and later became home to the All Saints Choir School (which evolved into the Hoosac School). In homage to its rich musical heritage, the Parish will celebrate its sesquicentennial with a Choral Evensong. The service, which lasts less than an hour, is a truly lovely and moving one in which the liturgy of Evening Prayer is illuminated with song and chants.
The Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys is based at the Episcopal cathedral in Albany and is the oldest continuously performing choir of its kind in the country. Under the direction of Woodrow Bynum, the choir is made up of trebles – boys ages 7-14 with unchanged voices – who sing the soprano line while a dedicated group of professional men sing the alto, tenor and bass parts.
The choir enjoys an international reputation for musical excellence and acts as a vital link to the ancient choral traditions of England and Europe. They have performed with the Albany Symphony, the Boston Symphony and at the Tanglewood Music Festival, and they regularly tour England performing at various cathedrals.
The November 15 Choral Evensong at All Saints in Hoosick provides a unique opportunity to hear this renowned Choir perform locally.
Come celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of a beautiful and historic Church and the Parish that calls it home. Admission is free. There will be a reception after the 5 pm service, with refreshments served from 6 to 7 pm. All are welcome!
