Berlin’s Kyle Burdick Is BCS December Scholar Athlete

January 30, 2015 By eastwickpress

BCS Senior Kyle Burdick has played soccer since he was four years old. His experience and commitment was evident this year as the team was undefeated during the regular season becoming CHVL league champions. The team also reached the third round of sectionals, only losing to Lake George – their toughest competitor.

Kyle Burdick was chosen BCS Scholar Athlete for December.

Kyle said his hard work has paid off both on and off the field.

“It feels really good to accomplish something,” he said. “The level of commitment to the team helps me focus on school work – I get it done so I can concentrate on what I love to do.”

According to Coach Art Schmich, Kyle should be commended for doing so well despite missing his entire junior year season due to a knee injury.

“He should receive the ‘comeback player of the year award,’” said Schmich. “As the starting midfielder, he played exceptionally well as the season went on and was an integral part of the team.”

Kyle spends half of his school day at Questar III’s Rensselaer Educational Center where he takes courses in Construction Technologies. He also works part time for his father’s company Burdick Building and Landscaping in Berlin.

Additionally, Kyle is a member of the newly reconstituted Varsity Wrestling team, which includes students from New Lebanon CSD as well.
