A large crowd of friends and family, including Hoosick Town Supervisor Mark Surdam and Hoosick Falls Mayor David Borge, turned out on New Year’s Day afternoon to see Jenn Hyde sworn in as Town of Hoosick Councilperson.

The swearing in was held in the lower level of the HAYC3 Armory. Jenn’s parents, Art and Joanne Hyde, held the bible while Town and Village Justice Tom Restino read the oath of office she swore to uphold.
Hyde will complete the final year of a four year term left vacant last year when former Councilman Surdam was elected Supervisor. Surdam had completed two years of his term. Last year the seat remained vacant as the result of a two-two vote to appoint someone to fill the spot. This year the Board will have a full complement of members.
Marilyn Douglas was Town Supervisor for 10 years. This, however, is the first time in 14 years a woman has served as Councilperson.
After being sworn in Jenn Hyde thanked everyone for their support of her campaign. She credits the truck that traveled through Town with the enormous sign on it with adding votes to her campaign. One of the highlights of that campaign, she said, was walking with her Dad as she met voters.
