by Steve Bradley

Hoosick Falls Fire Department Chief Robert Bornt looks over the debris field left after a man driving an SUV left the Classic Street roadway and drove across the Cheney Library lawn last Thursday. [private]The man, who suffered some type of spell, was traveling north on Route 22 when his vehicle left the roadway and went up on the sidewalk, then sheared off a street sign, blew apart a full, heavy duty, secured into the ground trash container, took out a sitting bench set in cement, sheared off a decorative light pole and then came to a stop when the vehicle hit a tree head on.

The driver was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center by the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad for observation. The Village of Hoosick Falls Police Department and the Cambridge Rescue Squad also responded.
