Building Wild Begins New Season

February 26, 2015 By eastwickpress

Paul “Paulie” DiMeo and Pat “Tuffy” Bakaitis Construct Creative Cabins

A new season of Building Wild started Tuesday, February 24, at 9 pm on the National Geographic Channel. Construction’s odd couple build another round of do-it-yourself dream cabins. Designer Paul DiMeo (@Paul_DiMeo), known for building the impossible over nine seasons on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” has again partnered with Hoosick woodsman and master fabricator Pat Bakaitis on a cabin design and construction business known as the Cabin Kings. [private]This unlikely duo uses repurposed materials to construct fabulous off-the-map retreats for their one-of-a-kind clients while overcoming outrageous challenges along the way. From creating a fishing cabin literally on a lake to incorporating a four-seat plane into a build, these guys are up for anything. They will use any and all materials they find to make these cabins the ideal sanctuaries for their clients. For more information, visit natgeotv.com/buildingwild or follow them on Twitter at @NGC_PR.

This season there are five local builds, in West Hoosick, Petersburgh, Grafton, Cambridge and Hoosick Falls.

National Geographic Channel first entered the DIY construction space in 2014 with season one of Building Wild. But this and their new show Cabin Fever, which airs at 10 pm, aren’t your typical cabin shows — they come with a Nat Geo twist. Possibly the most rugged construction show ever, Building Wild develops on challenging terrain with atypical materials, such as an old gas pump, a rust-ridden 1956 car or an old ski chairlift. And Cabin Fever builds unique log cabins in the most rustic and remote locations in the U.S., such as high in the mountains of Utah, where the view is breathtaking but the elevation could cause serious construction issues, or on a family homestead surrounded by buffalo in northern Minnesota. In both series, every single build is unique.

Building Wild is produced by 90 Miles in association with Hoosick Falls Productions and Shake Media, Inc., for National Geographic Channel. Executive producers are George Verschoor of Hoosick and CA, Will Spjut and Paul DiMeo. For NGC, executive producer is Michael Welsh; vice president, production and development is Kevin Tao Mohs; senior vice president, production and development is Alan Eyres; and president, original programming and production is Tim Pastore.

Based at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., the National Geographic Channels US are a joint venture between National Geographic and Fox Networks. The Channels contribute to the National Geographic Society’s commitment to exploration, conservation and education with smart, innovative programming and profits that directly support its mission. Launched in January 2001, National Geographic Channel (NGC) celebrated its fifth anniversary with the debut of NGC HD. In 2010, the wildlife and natural history cable channel Nat Geo WILD was launched, and in 2011, the Spanish-language network Nat Geo Mundo was unveiled. The Channels have carriage with all of the nation’s major cable, telco and satellite television providers, with NGC currently available in 85 million U.S. homes. Globally, National Geographic Channel is available in more than 432 million homes in 171 countries and 45 languages. For more information, visit www.natgeotv.com.
