Panther Boys Basketball Is Undefeated – Record Up To 16 – 0

February 12, 2015 By eastwickpress

HF 73   Cambridge 30

The Panthers traveled up Route 22 to take on the (2 – 11, 3 – 13) Cambridge Indians last week. The game started and by the end of the first quarter, it was clear the Indians were undermanned and going to be overwhelmed. The Panthers outscored the Indians 27 – 4 and from there it was just cruise control. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 57 – 17.

Connor McCart led the Panhers with 15 points, Noah Chani chipped in 14 and Andrew Hoag added 11. Every player on the Panther team scored.

The Panthers outscored the Stillwater Warriors in every quarter but the fourth to bring home a win last Friday evening. The Panthers are playing great defense and teams are having problems just getting shots. The Panthers play a man-to- man defense and they are playing it to a T. Combined with the uptempo offense, opposing teams are really struggling to keep up the scoring pace. Lately, the only time teams can keep up is if one or two shooters on the opposing team gets hot from the outside, then they are able to keep pace until the shooters cool off, then the Panthers pull away. It is really fun to watch.

Stillwater did everything they could to keep pace, they just couldn’t do it. After getting behind 37 – 21 by halftime, the Warriors came out and were held to a five point third quarter and that was the ball game. Connor McCart led the way with 19, Andrew Hoag chipped in 16.

The regular season will come to an end Friday evening, February 13, with the Panthers hosting Granville. Monday, February 16, the team will host Green Tech to make up the game rescheduled from last Monday due to a snowstorm. Green Tech is number one, of all classes, in the Capital Region, according to Channel 13.
