Solar Power Deal At HFCS Falls Through; A New One Is In The Works

February 26, 2015 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson and Alex Brooks

A solar array of over one megawatt, proposed to be installed on nine acres of the Wysocki Farm to generate electricity for the Hoosick Falls Central School, and approved by the Hoosick Zoning and Planning Boards, will not be built. [private]The company that proposed the project, Enlighten Hoosick LLC, was unable to reach agreement with the Wysocki family for the lease of the land on which it was to be built.

Jeff Wysocki said of the company’s offer, “the lease they wanted us to sign was ridiculous. It was all one sided.” He did not go into the details of the agreement. “If that was the deal they had offered us up front, we wouldn’t have even considered it,” Wysocki said.

“It’s sad it didn’t work out,” said Wysocki. He said his family would still like to work with the school on solar electricity, but no plans are in the works at present.

HFCS Superintendent Ken Facin said he is discussing a solar project with a California company called Borrego Solar that owns property in Washington County. Facin said they are currently working on a contract with Borrego and they are close to an agreement. He will provide details when an agreement is in place.[/private]
