William Klaer

Hoosick Falls – William H. Klaer Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday February 11, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls. He was the husband of the late Shirley Klaer who died in 2012.

OB-KlaerWilliam was born on October 10, 1933, in Hoosick Falls, son of the late Charles and Emilly (Luchey) Klaer. He attended schools in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953 to 1955. William was employed as a streamfitter, and was a thirty-year member of the Plumbers And Steamfitters Local # 7. He was also a member of the Schaghticoke American Legion # 731 and the Valley Falls VFW # 1938.

Survivors include his daughters Shirley Donovan of Johnsonville, NY and Kimberly Champayne of Nassau, NY, sons Albert Slocum of Bennington, Vt, Gary Slocum of New Mexico and William H. Klaer Jr., of Johnsonville, NY, sister Jean Roberge of Ballston Spa, NY, grandson William H. Klaer III, along with many other grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother, Charles Klaer.

Funeral services were held Sunday February 15, at 7 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls, New York. Burial with Military Honors was Tuesday afternoon, February 17, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon/Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation through the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation for the care they gave to William.
