Local Poets To Read At New Lebanon Library

Local poets Trina Porte and Howard Kogan will perform selected readings of their work at on Saturday, April 4, at 1 pm at the New Lebanon Library. The readings will be followed by an Open Mic session during which audience members will be encouraged to share their own poetry. Light refreshments will follow.

Porte has been reading her poetry and exhibiting her artwork for more than 30 years. Favorite venues include Cornelia Street Café, Bluestocking Books, and Brecht Forum in New York, Patrick’s Cabaret in Minneapolis, Bet Gavriel Arts Center in Israel, and many public libraries including the New Lebanon Library. She lives in the woods, runs a small press out of their home, and makes a fine genoise.

Kogan is a psychotherapist and poet. His poems have appeared in many publications including Still Crazy, Occupoetry, Poetry Ark, Writer’s Haven, Farming Magazine, Literary Gazette, Pathways, Up the River, and Point Mass Anthology. His book of poetry, Indian Summer, was published in 2011. He has also done many readings in area libraries as well as the Cornelia Street Café in NYC, Friends of Robert Frost, Hudson Valley Writer’s Guild and Rensselaerville Festival of Writers.  In 2011 he was named Poet Laureate of Smith’s Tavern, Voorheesville, NY. He lives in the Taconic Hills with his wife.

This program is free and open to the public. The New Lebanon Library is located at 550 State Route 20, ¼ mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.
