Ronald L. Babcock

Stephentown – Ronald L. Babcock, 46, of Horse Heaven Road, Averill Park, NY, entered into eternity on Monday, March 2, 2015, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY, after a brief and sudden illness.

Ob-Ronald BabcockBorn in Pittsfield, MA, Ron was the son of Donna Stetson Babcock of Hancock, MA, and the late Richard W. Babcock. Ron grew up in Hancock and had resided in Stephentown, NY, for 25 years. Born into a family of timber framers, Ron was the owner of Old Time Timber Framing in Stephentown. Ron had done many timber framing projects and antique building restorations from Maine to South Carolina. Some of his career projects include the Verdoy School House in Colonie, NY, the Nipmoose Farm in Buskirk, NY, and the 1690 barn at Ragland Tree Farm in Southbury, CT, along with numerous historic churches, barns and homes.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his forever and ever wife, Justine M. Prince Babcock, his children, Richard J. and wife Maria Babcock of West Stephentown, NY, Katelynn M. Babcock and husband Nick of Poestenkill, NY, Jeremiah and wife Danielle Birch of Glens Falls, NY, John Hodgens of West Stephentown and Angela Birch of Mechanicville, NY, his pride and joy – two grandsons, Christopher Birch and Joseph Hodgens, his sisters, Hannah and husband Dino Pallos of Lanesborough, MA, Susan and husband Michael Coleman of County Mayo, Ireland, Alice and husband Robert Lynch of Florida, Charlene and husband John Leonard of Hancock and Margaret and husband Tim Goss of Hancock, his brothers, David and wife Terrie Babcock of Lee, MA, Charles and wife Marie Babcock of Ohio, George and wife Nancy Babcock of Lanesborough and Clayton and wife Michelle Babcock of Cheshire, MA, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ron was the uncle of the late Megan Babcock.

As requested by Ron there will be no public calling hours or service. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Ron’s life.

Donations in memory of Ronald L. Babcock may be made to the West Stephentown Baptist Church Sunday School, 1672 NY 43, Stephentown, NY, 12168, if desired.
