Basketball Teams Garner Awards

HFCS basketball players from both the boys and girls basketball teams were honored with individual awards over the past couple of weeks. Both teams were undefeated in regular season Wasaren League play, each only lost once in the regular season, and each team won a sectional title.
[private] Each played into state competion, with the Ladies getting to the state finals. It was a great year for HFCS sports.

For the girls, senior Rachel Pine, sophomore Kelly Pine and junior Megan Flynn were named to Wasaren League first team. Seniors Taylor Hayes and Chelsea Stevens were each named as Honorable Mention. Rachel Pine was also named to the First Team Times Union Small School Girls All-Stars team. And to top it all off, Rachel Pine was named the Times Union Small School Athlete of the Year.

Megan Flynn was named to the Third Team Times Union Small School Girls All-Star team. Alexis Case of Greenwich was the Wasaren League MVP.

Head coach Eamonn DeGraaf was named the Times Union Small School Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. The fifth-year coach led his team to the Class B state finals, after winning the first HFCS sectional title since 1991.

Boys

On the boys end of the court, senior Andrew Hoag and junior Connor McCart were named to the First Team Wasaren League All-Star team. It was Hoag’s second straight year for the honor.

Hoag was also named to the Times Union First Team Small School All-Stars. Connor McCart was named to the third team.

Senior Will Bradley was named to the Second Team Wasaren League All-Stars. Seniors Mark Hackett, Austin Pitt and Noah Chani made Honorable Mention.

Senior John Rooney of Hoosic Valley was the Wasaren League MVP and senior Joel Wincowski of Lake George was named Times Union Small School Athlete of the Year. [/private]
