More Calls This Year Than Last

The Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad Annual Recognition banquet was held on February 21 at the North Hoosick Fire House.  Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Squad President Beth Cipperly and guest speaker was Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino. [private]

submitted by Beth Cipperly The Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad Annual Recognition banquet was held on February 21 at the North Hoosick Fire House.  Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Squad President Beth Cipperly and guest speaker was Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino. Certificates for community officers, government officials, local fire departments and rescue squads were given. Operations Manager Gill Hall presented a year in review for 2014 with total calls at 736. He reported that in 2013 there were 606 calls and 2014 was an increase of 18%. Town of Hoosick Rescue is making great strides and responding to nearly every call that is dispatched. This is possible with the help of new members, including junior members. Milestone plaques were give to members present that included Shaun Blair for five years of service and Deb Lohnes for 20 years of service. Georgiana Parker received The Joan Rogers Community Service Award which is given to a member who volunteers  in the community. A special award was also given to Bill Gaillard for his many years of serving as President. Recognition was given to the five riding junior members. Town of Hoosick has also started a youth group program headed by Deb Lohnes and Bill Gaillard for ages 12 to 15 and currently they have about 15 members.  Despite the weather, a nice evening was had by all.   Officers for 2015 are President Beth Cipperly, Vice-President Debbie Lohnes, Secretary Tanya Brock, Treasurer Roseann Miller, Accounts Payable Cindy Mattison, Captain Jessica Fisher. The Board of Directors is Bill Gaillard, Carol Hanselman, Georgiana Parker and John May.
