Residents of the Berlin Central School District approved the 2015-2016 proposed school budget of $19,099,991 Tuesday by a large majority. Total votes for the budget with a tax levy increase 0.90%, were 317 Yes and 123 No.
[private]Grafton resident Kellie Kaschak will be the newest member of the Berlin School Board. Kaschak, who will be retiring from the School Nurse position at BCS after 23 years this June, had the largest number of votes in the three candidate race for two Board member seats currently held by Katie Snyder and Gina Goodermote. Kaschak had 309 votes, Snyder had 307, and Goodermote 190.
A proposition to purchase three buses, one van, two suburbans, and a snow plow, total sum of $518,000, also easily passed with 278 residents for and 146 against.
According to District Clerk Mary Grant, the total number of voters was 457, with 435 at the polls and 22 absentee votes.[/private]
