BounceLinx, a fixed wireless internet provider, has plans to bring broadband service to the entire Town of Hoosick. Fixed wireless technology has been called “fiber in the sky” because the data transmission can match the capability of fiber optic cable. For those in Hoosick not presently served by fiber optic or cable service, fixed wireless service offers faster speeds and more data than other existing options such as dial up, DSL, satellite or cell phone hot spot transmission.
The Hoosick Town Board has made its meeting room at the HAYC3 Armory available from 5 until 8 pm on Wednesday, May 20, to the staff of BounceLinx, who will be available to discuss their plans for the Hoosick area, and to explain their equipment. They will also be accepting signups for service this summer. BounceLinx is offering to cover 100% of rural Hoosick and offer free installation to the first 100 customers – if 300 commitments can be procured by May 31. Hoosick and nearby area residents are encouraged to come to the Armory on May 20 between 5 and 8 pm and learn more about the plans. Information about BounceLinx is available at http://www.bouncelinx.com/#!plans/cwld. Individuals can sign up at the Armory or on line at http://www.bouncelinx.com/#!contact/c21c9.
Volunteers are needed to get the word out. Please call Tom Vallone at 686-4147 to lend your support.
