Brown’s Cup Trout Fishing Tournament To Benefit The Rensselaer Land Trust

May 7, 2015 By eastwickpress

Brown’s Brewing Company proudly announces the first annual Brown’s Cup Trout Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 16, based at the Walloomsac Brewery in Hoosick Falls. Brown’s invites anglers of all ages to fish the scenic Walloomsac River and surrounding bodies of water during a day of outdoor family fun and friendly competition to benefit the Rensselaer Land Trust’s watershed protection and education.

O-BrownsTroutTourneyTrophies and bragging rights will be awarded in three ages categories: 6 to 10 years old, 11 to 15 years old, and 16 and over. Registration is $20 and must be completed by 12 pm on May 15 at www.brownsbrewing.com (under the “buy stuff” tab), or in person at Brown’s Brewpub, 417 River Street, Troy or at the Walloomsac Brewery, 50 Factory Hill Road, Hoosick Falls.

Once registered, participants will check in between 6 and 9 am on May 16 at the beautiful Walloomsac Brewery to receive a Brown’s Brewing Company-provided yardstick. Participants may then fish any body of water with any type of lures and bait. Using a digital camera or smartphone, participants will photograph their largest fish using the provided yardstick and must return to the brewery check-in table by 3 pm with their smartphone or camera. Tie-breakers are won by earliest date and time of registration.

This tournament is catch and release and held in accordance with New York State fishing regulations. All participants 16 years of age and older must have a valid NYS fishing license. Rules and further details are available online. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Rensselaer Land Trust.

Topping off the day will be a trout dinner (separate from the benefit) featuring local fare beginning with a 6 to 7 pm cocktail hour before the 7 pm dinner. Menu highlights are grilled rainbow trout, Cornell Farm (Hoosick Falls) grilled veggies, sour cream and chive twice baked potatoes, garden salad with Happenchance Farm (Eagle Bridge) organic greens, Berle Farm (Hoosick) cornmeal muffins with Battenkill Creamery (Salem) butter, and a Brown’s Oatmeal Stout/root beer float station. Tickets are $30 for non-Brown’s Cup Tournament participants and $20 for Brown’s Cup Tournament participants. Reservations and payment for the dinner can be made by phone at 518-273-2337 or in person at Brown’s locations in Troy and Hoosick Falls.
