Evolving Relationships Explored In Driving Miss Daisy At SLCA

May 14, 2015 By eastwickpress

Join Sand Lake Center for the Arts and Circle Theatre Players for their production of  Driving Miss Daisy. Written by Alfred Uhry, directed by CarolLynn Langley, and produced by Shirley Neiss.

Pictured with a 1951 Hudson automobile are, left to right, Boolie Werthan (Dan DeWolf, Poestenkill) a successful Atlanta businessman, his wealthy and cantankerous mother, Daisy Werthan (Barbara Leavell Smith, Petersburg), and her chauffeur, Hoke Colburn (Emmett Ferris, Albany) a man of little education, but an innate sense of dignity.

This warm and inviting story, which begins in 1948, includes more than a bit of humor and explores the universal issues of prejudice and aging.  However, overriding all else are the evolving relationships between each of the Werthans and Hoke over a span of twenty-five years, when, ultimately, comes a profound appreciation of true friendship.  Opening on May 29 and continues May 30, June 4, 5, and 6 at 8 pm, May 31 and June 7 at 2:30 pm.  Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for under 18.  Reservations can be made at www.slca-ctp.org or call 518-674-2007.  SLCA is located at 2880 NY 43, Averill Park, NY. It is fully handicapped accessible, with free parking.
