On Sunday evening, April 11, Reid Michael Crobok of Troop 65 received his Eagle Scout Award in a ceremony at the Hoosick Falls First Baptist Church. A part of the ceremony was the lighting of candles describing the Eagle trail. It was explained that “when a boy becomes a Boy Scout there should be instilled within him something called the spirit of Scouting.[private]” The Scout law that Reid promised to obey has 12 parts. They are that a Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. In the Scout Oath Reid promised upon his honor to do his best first to God and county, second to other people by helping them at all times and third, to keep himself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. Reid began as a Tenderfoot, the first step on the trail to Eagle Scout. That was followed by Second Class Scout, then First Class. Reid then achieved six merit badges to achieve Star Scout status, going further up the trail. Following that step Reid had to show leadership skills and hard work and achieve five additional merit badges to reach the rank of Life Scout. He also achieved the Order of the Arrow. “Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long-term resident camping, developing leaders, and providing cheerful service to others.” To achieve Eagle Scout Reid had to have a total of 21 merit badges in specific categories and complete a project.

Reid’s project was to help the Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) Food Closet. During this past summer, on a drizzly evening, Three’s Harmony performed a special concert in Wood Park. Admission to the concert was food or monitory donations to the Food Closet. It was very successful. Reid and members of his Troop completed several projects at the Food Pantry itself as well. All of these accomplishments led to Reid’s Eagle Scout award.
Members of Troop 65 opened the Ceremony. The invocation was said by Larry LeBarron. Scoutmaster Carol Hoard presented Reid with his Eagle Award and Committee Member Cheryl Downing issued the Eagle Scout challenge to Reid.
A reception followed the ceremony.
