Petersburgh/Berlin – Hilda T. (Thomas) Willbrant, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Danforth Adult Care Center in Hoosick Falls.
Born in Petersburgh, NY, Hilda was the daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Church) Thomas. She grew up in Cherry Plain and was a 1940 graduate of Berlin High School.
Hilda was married to Harry L. Willbrant on January 15, 1944 in Watervliet, NY and they resided in Cherry Plain on the Tanner Farm. In 1955 Hilda and Harry moved to North Petersburgh and operated the Willbrant Farm on Indian Massacre Road. Hilda was also employed for twenty years by the former General Cable in Pownal, Vermont, but first and foremost she was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. Hilda enjoyed crocheting, canning, flower gardening and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter, Edna L. (Richard) Baker-Schumaker of Hoosick Falls and her son, H. Douglas (Janet) Willbrant of North Petersburgh; her half-brother, Ralph Thomas of Stephentown; her six grandchildren, Keith, Kevin (Michelle), Carrie and Cory Willbrant, Kenneth and Edna L. Baker; three great-grandchildren, Emmitt, Addison and Brittney (Corrie). She was pre-deceased by her husband, Harry L. Willbrant on May 2, 1999; her half brother, Robert Thomas and her half-sisters, Marion Adams and Jeanette Liebenow.
A graveside service will be held in Meadowlawn Cemetery, Petersburgh at 10 am on Saturday, June 6. Reverend Trygve Tomlinson will officiate.
