The Cambridge Historical Society & Museum located at 12 Broad Street in Cambridge, New York, is now open for tours on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 pm, or by special appointment. The “House”, as it is called, was built in 1869 and was established as the Historical Society in 1929. [private]The House is an example of period architecture, featuring a mansard roof, wrap-around verandah and ornate exterior moldings. Thanks to support from the community, the Museum received a complete restoration and painting last summer and has now been restored to its original grandeur. When you enter through the front door which contains beautiful leaded glass windows, you see a spacious hallway which features both a beautifully curved stairway and a period, framed, floor-to-ceiling mirror with a marble shelf. Rooms inside include displays of 19th century Cambridge-made Barton furniture, Revolutionary War memorabilia, fire-fighting exhibits, antique kitchen utensils, quilts, an amazing children’s room and much more to see and enjoy.
If you wish to contact the Museum you can call (518) 677 3327 or visit our web site at www.cambridgenyhistoricalsociety.org.
