Featured at the Cheney Library first Saturday Book Sale on August 1, from 9 am to 1 pm will be old books which circulated many years ago when the library was known as the Cheney Free Public Library and Historical Reading Rooms, chartered in January 1924. Since then we have had a name change along with a population service change. [private]Cheney Library used to serve just the village of Hoosick Falls, but in 1995 the trustees started the process to serve the entire Town of Hoosick. They were granted that charter in December of 1999.
We have much more now than when the doors were first opened because so much has changed in the world of technology. Cheney Library is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1 to 8 pm; Tuesday from 10 am to 5 pm; Friday from 11 am to 5 pm; and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm.
In addition to our monthly book sale, we sponsor two book clubs for adults, a knitting and crochet group, a quilting group and we have story-times for preschoolers in the fall and spring, plus the NY State Summer Reading Program for school age kids. If you have never been to Cheney Library be sure to come and take advantage of this jewel in the community of Hoosick Falls, NY.[/private]
