Hoosick Grange News

July 30, 2015 By eastwickpress

On July 22, Hoosick Grange had an open meeting. Master David Comell conducted the meeting, where various issues were discussed. The Lecturer had the program for the evening. The topic was Health and Things. She told about home remedies for ailments in the not-always good old days. [private]Many Grangers had different ways to get rid of Warts, Rabies, Styes, Headaches, Toothaches, Bed-wetting and Rheumatism. One of the old ways for bed-wetting for kids was to feed them roasted mouse or a cup of mouse tea.

The lecturer read about “Symptoms for Inner Peace” like loss of ability to worry. I thought that was a very good one. She had a joke and taught Grangers how to make chickens sing. She had a closing thought – If we’ve been blessed — It’s time to help the rest. She reminded the Grange that Rensselaer County Pomona Grange is on August 5, at Center Brunswick Grange Hall, at 7 pm, with a covered dish supper. Bring Baking Contest entrees. Our next meeting is on August 12, at 7 pm. It’s hot dog and roast corn-on-the-cob pot luck. It’s also Bingo Night – invite friends and neighbors. Don’t forget wrapped prizes.[/private]
