Stephentown Memorial Library Events

Free Breakfast & Lunch for kids – through July 31.  We are pleased to have been chosen as a feeding site for this federally funded program.  We will be serving a healthy breakfast and lunch each weekday. Breakfast will be from 8:30 -9:30 am and Lunch will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in the community room.  There is no charge and no income or residency requirement.  All children under age 18 are encouraged to take advantage of this program. The program will run until Monday through Friday until the end of the month.

[private] Valley Cats Visit SML –  Monday, July 27 at 1 pm.  The visit will include an appearance by one or two players and SouthPaw, the ValleyCats mascot. Kids will have an opportunity to learn a bit about the game of baseball and chat with a player. All are welcome and no reservations are required.

Storyteller, Karen Pillsworth – Friday, July 31 at 10 am.  Master Storyteller, Karen Pillsworth, presents a diverse group of stories which show that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, human and animal, real and imagined. It celebrates the fact that not all heroes are “super”, but can still inspire us to touch lives and change the world. All are welcome at this event.  Registration is appreciated.  Karen Pillsworth has been enchanting audiences in the U.S. and Canada with her stories for over 30 years. She has performed in libraries, camps, churches, parks, schools, historic sites and at festivals. She is regularly featured at Mohonk Mountain House and has shared her stories on WAMC National Public Radio.  In 2002 she was appointed the Storyteller Laureate of the city of Kingston, NY.

National Teen Lock-in Event – Masquerade Madness! – Friday, July 31, 7 to Midnight.  All teens age 13 – 18 are welcome!  Parent consent form is required for participation – Forms available at the library. Participants must be at the library and signed in by 7 pm on Friday, 7/31 and picked up and signed out by Midnight.

Come in costume as your favorite Superhero, Villain, or other character and compete for prizes. Meet teens from around the country with activities that include games, Minecraft tournament, Skype, movie showing, food and fun.
