Walter A. Wood High School Reunion

Approximately 140 alumni and guests attended the 34th Annual Walter A Wood Alumni Reunion on Saturday, July 13 at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corp. Master of Ceremonies, Ronald Seifert, was introduced by Janice Tate, who welcomed the group and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.  Malcolm Brownell delivered the Invocation. 

[private]Following dinner, Ron Seifert gave a special welcome to the newest 50 year class of 1964, who were introduced by Thomas Chapman.  Attending were Donna Andrew Adler, Allen Cornell, James Eldred, Diana Hall Hynick, Joyce Hawks Watson, Terrance Hoag, Glenn Hynick, Warren Jones, Carol McNeilly  Donovan, Karen Milliman Thomas,  Ruth Philpott McGuire, George Pine, Linda Sherman White, Linda Szetela Collett, Gail Wysocki Hodges.  From the Committee, for the 60 year  Class of 1955, Sarah Luke Snyder and Mary Lasson introduced those attending: Patience Bierwirth Dougherty, Connie Church LaDouceur, Mary Jayne Earley, Barbara Hanselman Schaeffer, Gay Harter Fairbanks, Calvin Morgan, Richard Fairbanks, Patricia Myers Finzer, George Reagan, Barbara Roberson DeLuca, June Rose Varner, Richard Sargood, Marilyn Sells Paska, Roberta Shaw Breese, Jane Weir Morgan, Marcia Walker Meerwarth, and Jean Watt Haynes.

From the Class of 1950  (65 yrs.) attending were Albert Goodwin, Judith Bullock Lott, Mabel LeBarron Schillaci, and Yngvieg Moy Lewis.  In the Class of 1949 attending were Elwin Bentley, Jr., Helen McLucas Foss, and Paul Prebble.    Class of 1948 had in attendance Robert Cipperly, Douglas Sherman, Marjorie Pine Herrington.  In the Class of 1947 were Barbara Eldridge Brackett, Iva Hewitt Durkee, Gwendolyn McMartin Smith, Marion Siemens Cipperly, Richard Marker, Evangeline Weller Brenenstuhl.  Class of 1946 had Elsie LeBarron Marpe.  Class of 1945 (70 years) had Donn Browned and Jean Bootman Scott in attendance.  Class of 1944 had Bertha Piritz Alden and Stella Sawtell  Brownell.  From Class of 1943 were Helen Brownell Filkins, Kenneth Herrington, and Harry Michie.

Marion Goodermote Hynick was in Class of 1942, and from Class of 1941 was Norma Brenenstuhl.

From the Class of 1940 (75 years graduated) attending were Gordon McNeilly and William Nugent, Jr.   The oldest graduates in attendance were Clara Sheldon Gutermuth and Kasmer Stempek, and congratulations were given to the Class of 1939, 76 years graduated. Mr. Stempek spoke to the group with a few words of wisdom.

Those who traveled the farthest to join us are Barbara Eldredge Brackett of the Class of 1947, from Eaton Center, N. H., Elaine Hall Myers of Beacon Falls, Ct., and Ann Sheldon Riedel, Class of 1954,   from Key West Florida.

Many thanks to all for the generous voluntary contribution of total of $1400, given to two deserving students at HFCS who will attend College in the fall.

Thanks were given to the Committee for the work done on the Reunion.  Special thanks given to Charles Filkins, who contributes much time and effort to the programs.  Thanks also to Debbie Seney, who provided the beautiful table centerpieces.    The Committee consists of Helen Filkins, Janice Cipperly, Mary Rubino, Sarah Snyder, Ron and Joyce Seifert, Doug Sherman, and Janice Tate.  [/private]
