Pianist Jeremy Denk will be the soloist at the last of four summer concerts in North Bennington, at the Carriage Barn, Park-McCullough House on Sunday, August 16, at 4 pm. The world-renowned pianist will play Bartók’s Sonata (Sz 80), Scriabin’s Sonata No. 9, and Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor, Op. 111.
[private]Denk is the winner of a 2013 MacArthur Fellowship, the 2014 Avery Fisher Prize, and was named Instrumentalist of the Year by Musical America in 2014. He has appeared as soloist with major orchestras in the U.S. and Europe. This season, he launched a four-season tenure as an Artistic Partner of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, made debuts in Cleveland, NYC and LA, and San Francisco, and performed Bach concertos with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
Denk is also known for his original and insightful writing on music, which Alex Ross praises for its “arresting sensitivity and wit.” He lives in New York City, and his web site and blog are at jeremydenk.net.
Admission is $30 ($25 for members of the Park-McCullough Association). Children under 18 are free. A reception with the artist will be held after the concert.
