Supervisor Krahforst said the Town has received a letter from a local citizen about compliance with ADA requirements in the Town buildings, which “makes demands and sets deadlines.” Krahforst said the Town is working diligently to satisfy the demands of its mediation partners, but it is running up against some expensive items for which it does not, at present, have adequate funds.

Krahforst said one such problem is the front entrance to the Veterans Memorial Hall, which is supposed to have a level platform outside the front door, and a ramp leading to it. Krahforst sought estimates to build this to correct specifications, and found that a temporary job using blacktop could be done for about $7,000, and a permanent job using concrete could be done for about $30,000. He said he can’t spend money on that scale if it isn’t in the budget, and adding items of that size to the upcoming year’s budget is problematic because the State is mandating that the Town’s budget increase not exceed .72%. He said he expects insurance increases alone to exceed that figure.[/private]
