Bennington’s Meetinghouse Cafe Presents Award-Winning Folk Singers

September 17, 2015 By eastwickpress

Connor Garvey and Max Garcia Conover, two New England-based singer/songwriters will perform at the Meetinghouse Cafe on Friday, September 18 at 8 pm. Garvey and Conover both tour nationally, sometimes as solo artists and sometimes with others. Garvey is from Maine. Conover originally hails from Puerto Rico, but is now based in Maine.

[private] The Meetinghouse Cafe is located at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 108 School Street in Bennington, VT.  Doors open at 7:30 pm for the 8 pm concert. Tickets prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

First time listeners often are drawn to Garvey’s engaging performance style, accomplished musicianship, and memorable melodies. But his lyrics project a depth and sincerity that allow the observant listener to find meaning beyond the catchy hook.

Garvey was named winner of the Kerrville New Folk Folk Festival, Rocky Mountain Folk Fest, SolarFest, Wildflower Art and Music Festival, and Maine Songwriters Association songwriting competitions. Garvey was voted as Most Wanted artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, nominated for Best Male Performer in the New England Music Awards, and a top new singer-songwriter by Sirius XM’s The Coffeehouse.

Growing up in such a musical environment in the artistically rich Northeast, Garvey developed the firm belief that songwriting is a method for bringing community together and a way for people to explore a greater depth within their own lives.

Conover, in addition to releasing two EPs and two full length albums since 2011, puts out a new song and video every week through Patreon. Conover began as a busker in Puerto Rico, but developed his own material when he didn’t find other songs that worked for him. He’s written hundreds since, including the weekly song project, over the last couple years. His focus has always been on trying to write great songs. Meetinghouse Cafe information is at www.uubennington.org.[/private]
