No contested races this Election Day
By Doug La Rocque
When Berlin voters go to the polls this election day, they will find the Republican and Democratic ballots to be a mirror image of each other. [private]At their recent caucus, Democratic Chairwoman Anne Maxon reported they chose incumbent Republican Town Supervisor Robert Jaeger as their candidate as well. They supported incumbent Democratic Town Councilman Dean Maxon for re-election, and incumbent Republican Councilwoman Tara Cinney. Current Town Clark Anne Maxon was chosen to seek another term, as was incumbent Republican Highway Superintendent Jim Wynn. The caucus also supported Republican incumbent Pamela DeShane as Tax Collector, current Republican Assessor Dave McNally and Republican Christina Vanko as Town Justice. Current Town Justice Joe Rechen is not seeking re-election.
Republicans gathered one night later to nominate their slate of candidates. Chairwoman Tara Cinney said they cross-endorsed Town Clerk Anne Maxon and Councilman Dean Maxon. Both parties indicated they were comfortable with the performance of those on the other side of the political aisle. The Supervisor, Clerk and Highway Superintendent positions are two-year terms. All the rest are for four years.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.[/private]
