Board Searches For A New Alternate, Approves Changes

by Doug La Rocque

Planning Board Chairwoman Pamula Gerstel opened the August 27 meeting with news of the resignation of alternate board member Jennifer Wager.  Besides serving as an alternate, Ms. Wager also frequently took the minutes of their meetings.  As a whole the board agreed her services will be missed.  Gerstel said the Board is now seeking another alternate member and asked that anyone interested please contact the Town Clerk Anne Maxon at the Town Hall.

[private]The Board held two public hearings before acting on two applications.  The first hearing concerned a boundary line adjustment for property owned by Bruce Hewitt at 43 School Street.  Hewitt wishes to sell .61 acres of his land to his nephew Tad Hewitt.  There was no public comment, and as there were no other issues concerning the transfer, the Board approved the line adjustment by a five to nothing vote.

The second hearing concerned a sub-division application brought forth by Robert and June Hoffman pertaining to their property at 135 Watson Road. They wish to sell 5.56 acres to neighboring landowner Kenneth Cameron.  Another neighboring landowner, Everett Brown asked what Cameron’s intent for the land was.  He said when he hears sub-division, he often thinks of many new homes and structures being built.  Mr. Cameron assured him he only wished to expand the pasture for his horses.  Mr. Brown thanked him and said he had no objection to such use.  All other concerns having been met, the Board again voted unanimously to approve the change.

The Board again discussed a matter brought before them in July.  Donald McHargue is requesting a sub-division of his land off Dingman Road that is accessed by a private drive.  He wishes to sell 1.36 acres to his neighbor Janine Van Patten to square off her property line.  Both parties indicated there would be no change in land use.  After reviewing the survey map, the Board voted to approve the SEQR review and scheduled a public hearing for 7 pm on September 24.  The Board will next meet at 6:30 pm on that same date.[/private]
