Field Hockey Remains Undefeated, 7 – 0

September 25, 2015 By eastwickpress

HF 2 – Granville 0 HFCS, 9/16, HF (O) 5-0, G 2-2.
Hoosick Falls dominated this game, keeping the ball on the Granville end of the field for much of the game. But the Horde defense managed to keep the Panthers out of the goal, allowing only two scores, one in each half. [private] Liz Ryan assisted Ally Burdick for both goals. The Granville goalie, with 12 saves, was so busy that at one point she commented to one of her teammates, “It seems like there’s more of them out here than there should be.” What a compliment to the Panthers. Cassie Sherman had zero saves in goal.

HF 3 – Greenwich 2  at Greenwich High School, 9/18, HF (O) 6-0. The Panthers grabbed a 2 – 0 lead from archrival Greenwich last Friday, only to have the Witches come back with two of their own, all by halftime. Liz Ryan scored both first half goals. Halfway through the second half, Erika Quackenbush got the ball to Ryan for her third score, giving the Panthers a 3 – 2 lead they would hold for the remainder of the game. Panther goalie Cassie Sherman had zero saves in goal, while Greenwich tender Olivia Barnes was kept hopping, stopping 16 shots.
HF 3 – Salem 0  HFCS, 9/21, HF (O) 7-0, (L) 6-0; S (O) 2-5, (L) 1-5. The Salem Generals visited HFCS on a cool Monday afternoon. With most of the game played just in front of the Salem goalie, the Generals escaped with only giving up three goals. Liz Ryan, with an assist from Megan Henry, struck first with a first half goal. Ally Burdick scored two usassisted goals in the second half to cap the scoring. Cassie Sherman had zero saves, Salem’s Jessica Vidal had seven.
Coming Up: Friday, 9/25, at HFCS, North Warren; Monday, 9/28, at Columbia H.S., Columbia; Wednesday, 9/30, at Corinth H.S., Corinth. [/private]
