Frank O. Pierce

Hoosick – Frank O. Pierce, 98, passed away on Tuesday September 15, at his residence on NY Route 7 in Hoosick. He resided there with his wife of sixty-five years, Barbara (Fleming) Pierce.
Frank was born on December 19, 1916, in Hoosick, son of the late Roscoe and Ethel (Cloke) Pierce. He was educated at schools in the Town of Hoosick and graduated from Troy Business College with a degree in Accounting. Frank was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was formerly employed at the Noble & Wood Company in Hoosick Falls and then as an accountant for Rensselaer County until retiring.
Frank was an active member of the community, he was a charter member of the Hoosick Fire Department beginning in 1937, where he also served as the Treasurer of the Hoosick Fire District. He was also a member of the Town of Hoosick Planning Committee and a Trustee for the Hoosick Rural Cemetery Association. Frank was a member of the Hoosick Baptist Church for eighty-four years where he served as Deacon, Trustee and Treasurer in the past. Frank was an avid Red Sox fan, he enjoyed bowling, gardening and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, daughters Colleen (Jim) Monahan of Hoosick Falls, Kathy (John) Brown of Greenville, SC, sons David Pierce of White Creek, NY and Derrick Pierce of Troy, NY, grandchildren Michael, Morgan, Kristin Pierce, Matthew, Kevin and Stefanie Monahan and sister Mary Burdick. Frank is predeceased by a brother Harold Pierce.
Funeral services were held Friday September 18, at 1 pm from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick. Burial followed the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick, New York.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls.  Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Baptist Church or the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County through the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Frank’s caregivers Donna Adler, Sandy McCart and the staff of Peg’s Angels for the kind and loving care they all gave to Frank.
