A new business in Hoosick Falls hopes to help people get heathy and stay healthy. Jena Case and Sarah Barton started “Moms on a Mission to End the Trend” to offer health and fitness coaching and consulting to assist people who want a healthier lifestyle. Their goal is to end the trend of eating processed foods that aren’t providing good nutrition and the sedentary lives that so many people lead. [private]

They encourage people to get out of their comfort zone, and while that is not easy, they believe that they will feel much better for it in the end. One of their guiding ideas is “Great things never come from our comfort zone.”
These two young mothers met about three years ago while working with Beachbody, a multi-level marketing business on which they have based their program. They offer a variety of services and programs, individualized for each client, focusing mainly on food and exercise. Beachbody offers many different kinds of workouts, fitness guides, nutrition and meal plans, and more. Their focus is on getting in shape and staying healthy. While Case and Barton are representatives for a number of products which clients can (but aren’t required to) purchase, they are not a franchise. Some of the products they offer, however, are through the Beachbody program.
Moms on a Mission will advise clients on how to shop healthier and eat healthier. Meal planning, how to make favorite recipes healthier and better food choices, and portion control are all part of the expertise they will use to help improve clients’ lifstyles.
Case and Barton hope to help people, men and women and families, to make smart choices at the grocery store, at home, and even when at a restaurant. Programs can even be designed around a client’s eating preferences, including vegetarian or vegan diets. Moms on a Mission offers one-on-one and group consulting, as well as low impact exercise programs.
Both Case and Barton are certified to lead an exercise class called PiYo, a Pilates-yoga hybrid that is low impact but effective, and appropriate for all ages and will begin offering classes in October. Barton said, “The PiYo workout is very low impact. I have hip and back issues, and since I’ve been doing PiYo, I haven’t had to go to the chiropractor.” They are both also in the process of getting certified in Cize, an exercise routine developed by expert Shaun T that is dance-based and is intended to make exercise fun. Case is also offering 5K Run/Walk coaching.
The Moms on a Mission to End the Trend office and exercise spaces are located on the second floor of the Armory, which can be accessed via the back staircase. For now, exercise classes will be in that upstairs space, but as classes grow, they will move to a larger space in the building. Classes are already filling in and interest is growing in their various programs. For more information, email casejena7@gmail.com, or call 518-312-3797.
