2015 HFCS Soccer Seasons Come To An End

October 29, 2015 By eastwickpress

Girls Soccer

HF 1 – Chatham 1

PKick’s, HF 3 – C 2

Hoosick Soccer Complex, 10/23.

After being constantly on the attack and controlling the game, the HF Panthers enjoyed a one goal advantage on the Chatham Panthers at the end of the first half. Ashley Foster, assisted by Angela Gonzalez, gave HF the lead on a corner kick with 11 minutes left in the half.

When the second half began, Chatham, seeded 11, moved the ball to the HF end of the field. Less than two minutes into the second half, a Chatham player lofted a shot from about 35 feet out. The ball floated, and carried by the strong wind, went into the goal just under the crossbar. It was just barely out of reach of HF goalie Jayde Tutenjian.

That was the set-up for a game that wouldn’t be decided in regulation, through two 10 minute overtime periods and two five minute sudden-death overtime periods. It took 68 minutes of scoreless play to have the game come down to penalty kicks.

Hoosick Falls made all their penalty kicks. Rachael Lewsey and Meg Flynn each made theirs. Taylor Mann kicked the winner. Chatham missed one of theirs, giving HF a 3 – 2 penalty kick advantage and the victory.

Hoosick Falls had 11 corners to Chatham’s one. Tutenjian had seven saves in goal for the HF Panthers. Jenna Rippel of Chatham recorded 16.

HF 2 – Catholic Central 3

Watervliet HS, 10/26.

The Lady Panthers soccer team season came to an end Monday. After Catholic Central grabbed the lead midway through the first half, the Panthers came back midway through the second half to tie the game. Jordyn Haynes scored unassisted to even the score.

Five minutes later Lexie Riffelbach gave CC the lead back. A quick two minutes more expired before Lauren Drake gave CC a two goal lead when she scored.

Less than a minute later, Taylor Mann scored for the Panthers to bring them back to within one goal of Catholic Central, but that was as close as they could get before the game came to an end.

Jayde Tutunjian had nine saves for the Panthers.

The team ended the season with a fine 14 – 4 overall record.

Boys Soccer

HF 1 – Schalmont 8

The boys season also ended Monday when they were defeated by Schalmont. The ninth seeded Panthers fell behind 5 – 0 in the first half and struggled the entire game to put something together. Tyler Gaines scored a goal to get the Panthers on the board in the second half. Chris Hamilton of Schalmont scored six of Schalmont’s eight goals. The boys ended their season at 8 – 9 – 1.[/private]
