The Ladies of the HFCS field hockey team only scored one goal Tuesday, but that one was enough to get the Panthers to the Finals.

Ally Burdick, with an assist from Liz Ryan, scored just over three minutes into the game. From there, the Panthers fended off all efforts by Greenwich. The Panthers controlled most of the game, playing most of it in the Greenwich end. The Witches had a couple chances to even the score but the HF defense held up their end of the deal to help seal the win. Cassie Sherman had four saves at the goalie position while the Greenwich goalie recorded 16.

HF had 23 corners to Greenwichs three, Greenwich took six shots to the Panthers sixteen. As in all typical HF – Greenwich games, the dominance on paper didn’t mean a thing. For almost 57 minutes of the game the Witches were only one goal away from tying the score.

A crowd of well over 100 people watched this exciting game.

The Panthers will travel to Schuylerville Sunday, November 1, to play the winner of the Schuylerville / Taconic Hills semi-final held Tuesday. Game time is 12 noon.[private]
