Petersburgh Planning Board

October 29, 2015 By eastwickpress

by Alex Brooks

The Petersburgh Planning Board held a Public Hearing on the application for site plan review of Karen and Charles Davis for a gun shop to be located at 18980 NY Route 22. They are planning to move their business, “Karen & Charlie’s Guns” from its current location on the corner of Elm Street and Route 22 into a new building in front of their home. The new building is still under construction.

[private]No one from the public had any objections to the Davis’ plans to relocate the business to that location. Peter Schaaphok, who was at the Planning Board meeting on other business, wished them success.

The Planning Board asked Karen Davis questions about the construction and security  of the building. All three doors into the gun shop will be solid steel and they will be hooked up to an alarm system.

The Board was satisfied with Davis’ presentation, and voted unanimously to accept the site plan review documents submitted, so the business is cleared to make the move as soon as construction is completed and the Building Inspector issues a certificate of occupancy.

Karen Davis said she hopes to be able to move as early as the end of November.

The Planning Board then heard a presentation from Attorney Nancy Hewitt about a proposed land transfer in the area between Harold Brock Road and Potter Hill Road. Phyllis Harper, who has 146 acres on Harold Brock Road surrounding her residence, proposes to sell about 40 acres to Peter Schaaphok.

Schaaphok said he intends to annex the land to his current deed rather than holding it as a separate parcel. Since no new parcel is going to be created, The Board said it is not a subdivision and will not need to make application as such. The Board approved the  lot line adjustment.[/private]
