The Hoosick Hootenanny was successful in raising much needed funds for The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hoosick Falls. The event was sponsored by the The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the Center in numerous ways. Funds raised at The Hootenanny will help the Center with necessary upgrades and the purchase of new beds and equipment, among other things.

The Hootenanny Committee members were Joyce Davis, Christina Kovage, Andrew Messersmith, and Christina White, and the Center’s staff and the Ladies Auxiliary were very helpful in making the event a success.

All of the ingredients for the food and the cooking were donated and locally sourced and the three bands played for free. It was a chilly evening, so people warmed up on the dance floor. The participating vendors were pleased with the turnout.

Committee Chairperson Kovage said that they look forward to doing it again next year. “We did it to help the Center, and also to raise awareness about all of the unbelievable things available locally. Everything that was served, the music, and all the vendors came from within a half-hour from Hoosick Falls. People need to know what great stuff we have right here,” she explained. She estimates that more than 100 people came to the event.[/private]
