Berlin High School Soccer Stars Named CHVL MVPs

Berlin soccer’s all time scoring leader Jewel Pietrzak and Boys team starting goalkeeper Jackson Burhans have been honored as the Most Valuable Players in the Central Hudson Valley League’s 2015 season. [private]

For Pietrzak this is the second year in a row as league MVP.  The Junior striker has tallied 136 career goals so far, breaking the long-time school record of 104 goals set by Dean Maxon.  Joining Pietrzak as 1st team CVHL All Starts are Jordan Cahill and Juliena D”Alessio.  Briana Royce was named 2nd team All Star.  Besides Burhans, Dan Bentley, Ryan Willis and Seiji Akera were also named as Boys 1st team All Stars.  Keel Krumenacker was named to the 2nd All Star team.

Both soccer teams had outstanding years. The Boys squad tied Loudonville Christian for first place in the league, while the girl’s team finished in second place.

Both Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Section II tournament this past week.  The boys team finished in third place overall.  On the girls side, Maggie Gordon qualified for the NYS meet this coming Saturday.

Fall sports are now wrapped up, and the Mountaineers turn their attention to winter sports. Practices for basketball, volleyball, swimming and wrestling began this week.[/private]
