Large Turnout For Hoosick Halloween Parade

November 5, 2015 By eastwickpress

On Friday evening, October 30, just as it was getting dark, Wood Park filled up with princesses, angels, witches, minions, monster trucks, ninjas, cowboys, and others in creative costumes, for the start of the Halloween Parade that HAYC3 sponsors every year. There were kids of all ages in costumes, adults in costume, families in costumes, pets in costumes…even a goat in costume.

Participants lined up along  Eberle Way and the Hoosick Falls Police and Fire Departments led the parade along the route, right onto Main Street, left onto John, another left onto Church around onto Elm and back to the Park for the Awards Ceremony.

With everyone gathered around the bandstand, HAYC3 Executive Director Aelish Nealon said that everyone looked great, and then announced the winners: Tied for Cutest were the team of Lobster Tristan DeLuca and Lobster in the pot Emmalyn Parker (who was carried around by her “chef” mother in a lobster pot!), and the tiny gnomes, Emily and Charlotte Battles; Funniest was racecar driver Carson Luke, and Most Original was Cole DeLuca as “spaghetti and meatballs.” Best Family was another tie, the Case family and the Whalen family. Pet costume awards went to Cooper the cowboy dog, owned by Rick and Pam Tinkham, and Mila the goat, who lives with the Cowder family.

Mayor Dave Borge, Ric DiDonato, and Kevin O’Malley helped set up the sound system. Nealon thanked the Fire and Police Departments and the Village office for their support of another community event.

Jena Case expressed the feeling of many when she said, “I love the parade. Thanks for keeping the tradition going!”H-Angel-wH-Three Little Pigs-wH-Spaghetti-wH-Racecar-w
