Many Events In Town Of Hoosick To Honor Veterans

A number of events are scheduled to commemeorate Veterans Day 2015 in the Town of Hoosick, and recognize those who have so faithfully served and who are currently serving our country. 

[private]Wednesday, November 11

9 to 10:30 am – Coffee & Camaraderie at HF Community Alliance Church. Sponsored by Voice of a Vet. On this special day, we’re not only inviting veterans and their families, but also community members to come and rub elbows with the veterans and enjoy coffee, pastries and great conversation.

11 am – American Legion Post #40 invites the community to attend its traditional Veterans Day Ceremony at Wood Memorial Park. This will be followed by an Open House at the American Legion at 12 Noon.

1:30 pm – Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site will host a Flag Retreat Ceremony, including musket salute and trumpet music. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and representatives from the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution will also participate.  The Bennington Battlefield will be open on Veterans Day from 10 am to 6 pm.

Saturday, November 14

10 am to Noon – Voice of a Vet will be sponsoring a Veterans Day Continental Breakfast and Trivia Contest at HF Community Alliance Church. Breakfast is at 10 am and trivia at 11 am.

All veterans and the public are invited for a morning of fun and refreshments and special recognition for the vets. You do not have to play to attend.

Trivia teams will consist of five to seven players. Categories are NY/Local History, Military, TV/Music, Landmarks, and Sports. Each team must have a veteran spokesperson. Cost is $15 per team.

Call Tom McMartin (686-5075) if you’d like to enter a team or if you are interested in being on a team. We’ll probably organize pick-up teams on the day of also. If you don’t want to play, just come and watch the fun![/private]
