Friday, October 28, 1836: We gathered apples and dug potatoes.
Saturday: I shook walnut trees in my meadow for my children to gather them and dug potatoes. Tonight I took three horses out of my corn field for the third time in the night and tonight I went to Ephraim Pierce to have him take care of them.
[private]Monday, October 31: Today Platt Wylie cut up corn for us about half a day, which makes out a day’s work he has helped me for my going to Sand Lake with him as a witness to Colonel Spencer and testifying that said Wylie was not fit for military duty.
Thursday Nov 3: Today Mr. Alonzo Chapman moves to the Michigan.
Wednesday, Nov 9: This forenoon I drew manure onto my garden and this afternoon I went to election to Lewis M. Brown’s and then I rode up to Sylvester Howard’s and got some sage.
Thursday: This forenoon I took my two horse wagon and went to Hancock to Wm Hadsell’s and took on four barrels of cheese to deliver in Troy for him. I returned home and about one o’clock I started for Troy. I had on twelve cheeses, a bushel of walnuts or nearly and my wife and daughter Angeline. We went to Sand Lake to Henry Withees and stayed. We got there about seven this evening.
Friday: This morning we went to Troy. I delivered Hadsell’s four barrels cheese to the tow boat office and took a receipt to Hooker’s. I sold eleven cheeses to Henry Meamic at ten cts per. I had three hundred and sixty pounds and one cheese lost or stole. We sold 88 cts worth walnuts.
Sunday: I laid up cider cheese for the freezing weather begins to threaten hard.
Monday, Nov 14: On this morning more than half of our cows were hurt eating apples. They did not give milk. they were weak and fell down. We did not do anything for them but drive them around and exercise them.[/private]
