Dyken Pond Celebrates The Yule Log

December 10, 2015 By webadmin@brainspiral.com

Come celebrate the end of the year Dyken Pond-style. On December 13 from 1 to 4 pm there will be crafts and activities for kids, as well as a scavenger hunt for the hidden Yule Log. Refreshments (hot chocolate and snacks) will be provided. Please dress appropriately. This program is free and for all ages. The story of the Yule Log and the Winter Solstice will be shared at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center, followed by a search for the hidden Yule Log. Gil Payette, teller of Native American tales and legends, will share stories of the season around an outdoor campfire. Holiday crafts and greens will be available to make. People of all ages are encouraged to come out to this free, informal program…and bring your sleds! Hot chocolate and light snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own snacks to share. For more information, contact the Center at dykenpond@fairpoint.net or 518-658-2055. Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is a Rensselaer County Park and is open daily during daylight hours for hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Call 518-658-2055 for details and directions, and for information about our full winter schedule.
