Jean A. Thompson

Hoosick Falls – Jean A. (Grogan) Thompson, 84, died peacefully Monday, November 23, 2015 at The Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls.  Born in Bennington, VT on January 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Ethel Jones Grogan.[private]Jean was a resident of Hoosick Falls for most of her life and also lived in Petersburgh briefly with her family.  She was a 1949 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School.  She later attended Austin Beauty School.  She met her late husband Albert at the White Creek Dance Hall.

Jean was employed for over 17 years by the former Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, NY as an operating room technician and also did home health care after working at the hospital.  She was very fond of her late Yorkshire Terrier dog, “Sweetie Pie.”

She was the wife of the late Albert E. Thompson who died in 2003, loving mother of Cory J. Thompson of Petersburgh, Keith D. (Tina) Thompson of Cambridge, Kelly J. LaPerle of Latham and Colleen M. (Mike) Hafner of Petersburgh; sister of Marie (Donald) Babcock of Petersburgh and the late Victor A. Grogan (wife Hope survives) of Schaghticoke.  Jean is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service was held on Monday, November 30 at 11 am at the Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church  in Hoosick Falls with Pastor Jonathan Youngmann officiating. Interment followed in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1 Mustang Drive, Cohoes, NY 12047. Arrangements are under the direction of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home in Petersburgh. Condolence book at ParkerBrosMemorial.com.[/private]
