Karen L. Crandall

A huge void was created in the hearts of the family and many friends of Karen L. (Klein) Crandall as she passed away on December 7, 2015.  

[private]Ob-Crandall-wBorn in the Bronx, New York on March 4, 1947, Karen was the daughter of Louis J. Klein and Mabel A. (Kiedaisch) Klein. The Klein family moved to Petersburgh in 1948 where Karen resided until moving to Florida in 2005.

Karen graduated in 1965 from Berlin Central High School. After high school, Karen worked as a secretary at Sprague Electric Company and later as a Senior Library Assistant at The Clark Art Institute until she retired in 2003.

While living in Petersburgh, Karen was very active in the community, serving on the Petersburgh Civic Council, Petersburgh Rescue Squad, and as Chairman of the Republican Committee.

Karen enjoyed traveling through the United States, England and Australia. Her favorite times were spent visiting and entertaining family and friends. She was an excellent cook and loved to share recipes. She also enjoying browsing local thrift shops and finding bargains.

Karen and her family moved to Florida in 2005, where she enjoyed her retirement time so much she encouraged many family members and friends to move to Florida.

Karen had a big heart, and was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Karen was always fun to be around and everyone will remember her great laugh! She was always willing to help anyone in need.

Karen married the love of her life, Dale W. Crandall on August 2, 1969.  In addition to her beloved and devoted Dale, Karen is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Peckham and her husband Eric of Fort Myers, Florida, and her two grandchildren, Emilee M. and Jakob O. Peckham, who were the delight of her life. Karen also leaves two brothers, Karl L. (Sharon) Klein of Berlin, New York, and Kurt L. Klein and his partner Anne M. Sicley, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, an uncle, Charles F. Kiedaisch, Jr., of Hopewell Junction, New York, several nieces and nephews, and many friends who were dear to her heart.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Karen’s memory to the Petersburgh United Methodist Church, 12 Head of Lane, Petersburgh, NY 12138. [/private]
