Stella D. Brownell

Hoosick Falls – Stella D. Brownell, 86, died December 5, 2015 at Brookdale, Filmore Pond, in Bennington, Vermont. She was the wife of the late Milton Brownell.

[private]Ob-Brownell-wStella was born on June 21, 1928 in East Montpelier, Vermont. She was predeceased by her parents Francis and Ella Ducker and her brothers James and Frederick Ducker. She was a graduate of Hardwick Academy and Putnam Memorial School of Nursing, Bennington, VT. She was employed at the Hoosick Falls Health Center and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. After retirement, Stella provided in home nursing care to several local residents. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with cooking, baking, sewing, rug hooking, knitting, and her feline companions.

Survivors include her three daughters Diana Cottrell (William) of Hoosick Falls, Donna Sanders of Albany, NY, Denise Perry (Steven) of Niskayuna, NY, grandchildren, Case Cottrell (Karen) of Watertown, NY, Jennifer Brownell (Chad) of Valley Falls, NY , Seth Cottrell (Kelsey) of B. C. Canada, and Shane and Cole Perry of Niskayuna. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Douglas, Michael Case, Aracelli, Ana Marie, Madison, Mallory, Charlie, Brady, Nikolas, Elijah, Adalaide, and August, as well as several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Stella’s family thanks Dr. Marcus Martinez, the nursing staff at Brookdale, Filmore Pond in Bennington, and Bayada Hospice care for the kind, compassionate care they gave Stella during her stay at the memory care center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday December 9 at 11 am from the Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad or the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the funeral home.[/private]
